Next step

Made it! Had the surgery. Doctor said the gland was 80% involved with some extended to the outer margin. Made sure to trim a little extra and feels like he got it all. Gleason was 7, T2B. Had issues with hiccups and heartburn that never had before. Lasted 10 days, went to gastro doctor and gave him muscle relaxers and Nexium. Must be in response to the surgery, never had before. This really fatigued him. Maybe now he will get better. We go back for a “visit” in a month and then a PSA in three…hopefully it will be zero.

Best wishes to you for a 100% recovery.

It's almost time

Day after tomorrow we head to Birmingham for the radical prostatectomy. My husband is very apprehensive. So afraid of bad news after the surgery. Please pray for us and that this will take care of the cancer.

bill1hu sent you a prayer.

Comedy of errors (or the worst roller coaster ride ever) continues

So the uroligist calls and tells my husband that the 2nd biopsy with 10-12 pricks positive is his. 11th prick is precancerous and only one prick benign. We really expected this although my husband was praying for divine intervention. Doctor asks if he has decided on course of action and was told that he was going to have the prostatectomy and that Dr. Tulley was to perform. The urologist asks when he was having it done and when my husband told him in a month he expressed concern that he is waiting too long, that it should be done immediately. He also told him that even though the bone scan and mri came back negative that with that much cancer he was concern about microscopic cells being released throughout his body.

No correct me if I am wrong but I think at this point he should be offering hope instead of pessimism and since my husband has already indicated another doctor has taken over his case, that he should bow out gracefully and not add more stress than necessary.

Next step is the actual surgery scheduled for mid August. Hopefully all will go well.
